Overview of Our Facilities
The completion of the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center marks the culmination of a project over 35 years in the making. Although construction of the facility was
initially approved by former Governor Michael Dukakis, it was not until 1993 when former Governor William Weld authorized the construction site at Roxbury Community College and designated Roxbury Community College as
the custodian of the facility with the responsibility for its oversight, administration and operation. In June 1995, the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center opened.
The 70,000 square foot field house provides Permanent seating for 3500 people, but this can be expanded to 5000 with temporary seating. the Multi-purpose rooms, with a
net of 3500 square feet, can be divided into four separate, equal sized rooms. These rooms also have a full sized kitchen. The 12,000 square foot gymnasium has permanent bleacher seating for 500 with
the additional availability for 800 more seats.
The center has also played host to career fairs, community "town meetings" and luncheons hosting 500 people. These events are just a part of the wide
array of possibilities. The Center has the capability to host events that include athletic activities, educational activities, awards ceremonies, community programs, entertainment events, receptions, dinners and
luncheons. The facility can host programs that incorporate one or all of these aspects.
Corporations and community organizations have used the Center's resources as a cost-effective alternative to an
expensive venue. The Center can provide any business or organization with spaces as large as 70,000 square feet or as small as 500 square feet.
The Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center welcomes all
organizations to tour the facility to see just what we can do for you.
